No ‘gloom and doom’ in NW real estate
Thursday, May 29th, 2008So I know you’ve been reading all the ‘gloom & doom’ stories in real estate. I have to write and let you know that things just are not that bad.
Since the beginning of the year, I personally have been involved in offers that have had more that one competing offer, have sold condos in buildings that are dealing with litigation issues, and have had a listing that got an offer within 3 weeks…REMEMBER, all of us need to live somewhere and want to enjoy the neighborhood that we live in with the amenities that the communities offer…Most of my clients do not want to rent for a long time and would prefer to have their housing funds go towards a mortgage rather than rent which support the real estate market. Additionally, real estate has always been a long time investment which means that one would keep the investment for at least 5, 7 or 10 years or more.
This all means that we are in a ‘normal’ market where we will have a larger pool of properties to choose from and a fewer number of buyers with the proper credentials to afford them. Our Northwest area is like none other. We live in a unique enclave of wealth, diversity, and individualism. In fact, because we are so far to get to from the rest of the country, our area is somewhat insulated from the problems facing much of the rest of the country. Please feel free to email or call (206.418.6260) me if you would like to discuss this further.
